As the motor drives the outer magnet, the inner magnet activates the impeller to rotate and move fluid. 

Eliminating direct contact between the motor and the impeller gives the pump a sealing that ensures fluids stay within the system. This is a feature that distinguishes the mag-drive pump from other pumps.
